Mairéad Cleary, author & psychotherapist

Mairéad grew up in the south-west of Ireland and moved to Australia in 2008. Nature has always been a part of her life. Mairéad spent her childhood summer days playing in the woods beside her home or on the rugged coastline half an hour from her home. In her 20s Mairéad went out into the world to find some of the most beautiful displays of art on the earth’s canvas and there began her love of walking, hiking, roaming, tramping. The feeling of freedom from setting off on a long hike with a pack on her back hasn’t often been surpassed. Rounding a corner to be greeted by a new landscape is still an experience that she treasures.

Mairéad is a facilitator & psychotherapist as well as a researcher & writer. Byron Trails was born out her converging interests in Nature, connection and health (mental & physical). She has a passionate interest in how people relate to their environment and to the environment and how that relationship impacts them.

Mairéad self-published Byron Trails in 2016. She created the book out of a desire to give people an experience of nature. She knows how good it is to go walking and to spend time in Nature. The research proves it. Mairéad’s hope is that through this book people might experience a connection with nature that they’ll want to repeat again and again.
